ABOUT

Tim Dutton has been recording and engineering sound for decades. At 15, Tim fell in with a group of talented high-school-aged musicians and (because someone had to do it) crawled behind the mixing console and started twisting knobs. From that moment, Tim knew what he wanted to do for a living.

When Tim was 18, he attended The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, OH. After that, he continued recording music and mixing concerts for a brief period before landing in a commercial radio and TV recording studio in Columbus.

After a couple of years, Tim jumped into something new. He tried his hand at sound mixing for film and video production and found that it satisfied him creatively and gainfully.

Today, Tim still loves recording production sound and has built a state-of-the-art mixing studio, The Mix Space, where he designs, crafts, and blends dialogue, music, and effects into finished long- and short-format film soundtracks.

Tim lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, but technology has allowed him to collaborate with motion picture professionals across the country and across the Atlantic. The decades-older Tim realizes the 15-year-old Tim had the right idea… figure out a way to earn a living doing something you love, and you’ll never get tired of learning, experimenting, and trying new things.
